Nevada Early Intervention use to have a playground that helped make magic happen for kids with special needs. When the Nevada Early Intervention building was expanded to accommodate the growing need of EI services in our community, the playground was torn down. We want to bring back that magical place for kids receiving early intervention services. This playground gave these children a safe place to work on motor skills, meet developmental milestones, learn communication skills, model peer behaviors and to just have fun!
In order to make it happen, we are asking for help from the community. Please review the list below for the services that we need. If you can help with one or more areas we would love to hear from you.
Thank you to Reno Tahoe Construction, Fred Reeder president, for excavating the land and providing the top soil. It looks great!
- Excavation (the land is all ready fairly level) Done!! 7/9/08
- Contractor to be the “name” with the City of Reno. We will need a few questions answered throughout the process, but there are a few committed individuals with Friends of Special Needs and NEIS that will take the burden off of the Contractor for the costs.
- Concrete donation and/or installation (walkway, wall, footings for playground equip.)
- Drainage and irrigation (just a drip system and typical drainage needs for any site)
- Soft surface to be donated and installed surrounding playground equipment (possible rubber mat – recycled if possible)
- Installation of existing playground equipment
- Donations of new playground equipment (upon review of existing structures)
- Donation and delivery of rock to surround play area (we will do the manual labor)
