In 2002, aware of the challenges faced by children with disabilities, a group of woman decided to pool their resources in an effort to help local families and children with special needs. Today, Friends of Special Children, (FOSC), a 501c(3) non-profit organization, consists of thirty active member volunteers and continues to assist and enhance the lives of children with special needs in Chattanooga.
Early in our tenure we worked in Chattanooga for the School of the Deaf, and local special needs camps. In 2004 FOSC came to Signal Centers whose mission is to strengthen children, adults and families through services focusing on disabilities, early childhood education and self-sufficiency.
